Superb White Jade Pea Pods Pendant

Superb white jade carved as two pea pods, circa 19th c.  Symbolism: Chinese artists used seeds or nuts as a means to convey the wish that the recipient of this jade pea pod would be fortunate to beget many children. The peas inside the pea pod symbolize children. Twice as many pea pods means doubling their chances of bearing children

Exquisite Spinach Jade Bowls

SOLD

A group of six spinach jade bowls from the early 1900′s. Each bowl is polished, similarly sized and has its unique colors and veins. The spinach jade color of these nephrite bowls is of a characteristic semi-transluscent, light mossy green tone with paler and darker mottling, black flecks and veiny striations. The pattern of spinach jade is also referred to as “watermelon skin.”
